Kafe 1788

London’s first Haitian café is thriving in a previously hard-to-let retail unit at the entrance to Chrisp Street Market.

As well as healthy food and artisan coffee, it serves up an extensive programme of yoga, pilates and boxing classes. The gallery and event space allows locals to showcase their work and open mic nights, pop-ups and charity events are beginning to create a night time economy in the area. One local musician told us that he never thought he’d play in Poplar!

Stay up to date with the programme at Kafe 1788 by following them on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
